Tim is a partner in the Vorys Columbus office, a member of the litigation group and head of the firm’s appellate subgroup. His practice focuses on appellate advocacy, oil and gas and other commercial litigation, and antitrust. He regularly represents clients in state and federal courts throughout Ohio and elsewhere, including the Supreme Court of Ohio, courts of appeals across the state and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Sixth and Ninth Circuits.
In his oil and gas practice, Tim represents both large horizontal producers and conventional operators in a wide range of disputes, including landowner lease disputes, royalty claims and business-to-business conflicts. His experience spans matters from single-plaintiff cases to putative class actions. He also has extensive experience defending oil and gas clients in regulatory proceedings before agencies such as the Ohio Oil and Gas Commission and the Ohio Reclamation Commission.
Tim’s commercial litigation practice centers on contract disputes and business torts. He has represented clients in multiple industries, such as manufacturing and banking, on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants.
Tim’s antitrust experience includes representing 18 major U.S. retailers in a lawsuit filed in the Southern District of New York alleging violations of U.S. antitrust laws by Visa and Mastercard.
Tim is a member of the American Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association and the Columbus Bar Association. He is also active in the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation (EMLF), where he serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees, and in the Ohio Oil & Gas Association (OOGA).
Tim earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he was a member of Delta Theta Pi and the Order of the Coif and served as an associate editor of the Ohio State Law Journal. He received his B.A., summa cum laude, from The Ohio State University. Tim is a graduate of the Leadership Columbus Class of 2014.
