Matt is of counsel in the Vorys Columbus office and a member of the corporate group. He has more than 15 years' experience in financial institutions law. In his legal practice, Matt assists community banks, credit unions, consumer finance companies, money services businesses and other financial service providers on a diverse range of regulatory and corporate matters, including corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, bank formation, regulatory and consumer compliance, securities and responses to enforcement actions.
Prior to joining Vorys, Matt served as the division counsel for the Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of Financial Institutions. In this role, Matt directed the division’s legal program which included the licensing and regulation of state-chartered banks, credit unions, non-depository consumer finance lenders, and money services businesses. He also served as the primary legal liaison between other state and federal regulators, industry legal counsel, and other stakeholders.
Matt is a member of the Columbus and Ohio State bar associations.
Matt received his J.D. from the University of Toledo College of Law, where he was a member of the Toledo Law Review. He received his B.A. from Ohio University.
